I have a lot of nurses in my family. My sister is a nurse. She’s retired but she specialized in cardiac research. My husband has seven siblings, three were nurses. In therapy, our therapists are specially trained to ensure kids comprehend the things they are learning. Unfortunately, the children at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch have to learn to live in the "real world." These kids have been abused, neglected, and traumatized. Their world has been an aberration of the real world. Most children are not hit on a daily basis, or raped, or go hungry for days on end. DBT/SPARCS is the therapeutic foundation on which we base the services we provide to children at the Ranch.
